Community Resident Affiliate (CRA) Program

The CRA program is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate a mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationship between your organization and the vibrant LACS community.

Join Our Thriving Community Partnership

At LACS, we believe in fostering meaningful connections between community-based organizations and our academic community. The CRA program is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate a mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationship between your organization and the vibrant LACS community. By becoming a CRA, your organization plays a pivotal role in promoting global cultural competence within the diverse tapestry of UMD's faculty, students, and staff.

Mission and Values

As a CRA, your organization aligns with LACS's core values of diversity, inclusion, and justice. Together, we strive to make LACS a central contributor to campus-wide anti-racism and social justice initiatives. By forging this partnership, we embark on a shared journey to create an environment that celebrates differences, amplifies unheard voices, and builds bridges of understanding across cultures.

Access to University Resources

LACS is committed to supporting the growth and development of our CRA partners. Upon formalizing our UMD affiliate status, your organization gains access to a wealth of university resources. This includes but is not limited to research facilities, academic collaborations, and networking opportunities that can significantly enhance your organization's impact and reach.

Renewable Collaboration

The beauty of the CRA program lies in its flexibility. Terms of affiliation are renewable on a yearly basis, allowing all parties to adapt and grow together. Through open communication and collaboration, we ensure that the CRA partnership continues to meet the evolving needs of both your organization and the LACS community.

Ongoing Collaboration and Assessment

To ensure the success of our partnership, regular communication is key. The CRA is expected to meet with LACS leadership at least once each semester to assess planning and residency goals. This ongoing dialogue helps us tailor our collaboration to address the unique objectives of your organization, creating a dynamic and responsive partnership.
